têm sido estudadas visando a obtenção de condições ideais de cultivo, bem como a seleção de linhagens mais adequadas à maricultura (Patwary & van der Meer 1982, van der Meer & Patwary 1983, Zhang & van der Meer 1987). O manejo bem sucedido de uma espécie está condicionado ao conhecimento de sua biologia. Portanto, o histórico de vida tem sido objeto de estudo em muitas espécies de Gracilaria, como G. cervicornis (Turner) J.
